PROACTIVE (PROstAte Cancer ETIology: Approaching PreVention through Education) is a national continuing medical education curriculum designed to provide urologists, internists, and family practitioners with practice improvements in the prevention of prostate cancer.
Educational Activity Learning Objectives
- Discuss the rationale and appropriate use of clinical guidelines in screening for prostate cancer
- Describe individualized patient risk factors for prostate cancer and how to incorporate this information into an overall assessment and counseling strategy with patients
- Recognize the differences, strengths, and limitations of current prostate cancer screening tests
- Demonstrate familiarity with current evidence assessing prostate cancer prevention strategies, including chemoprevention with pharmacologic agents
